Patient Testimonials

The Shiley Eye Center and Dr. Robbins literally opened up my eyes and life.

I have had strabismus from childhood. Every optical appointment ended with the same prognosis: “we are very sorry there is nothing we can do to help you.” My prescription would be adjusted, prisms recommended and I would adapt myself to live with strabismus.

After LASIK surgery my strabismus worsened. I began having double vision, headaches, eye pain and nausea. It was becoming increasingly difficult to work.
Luckily for me my insurance changed as my symptoms worsened. Shiley Eye Center was now an optical option. During my first appointment the optometrist asked how long I have had strabismus. I replied since childhood. She asked why I have never had anything done. I told her what I had always been told: there is nothing that can be done. She told me she thought Dr. Robbins could help me and encouraged me to make an appointment.

Dr. Robbins is an amazing professional with a caring, healing personality. She patiently explained to me why my eyes are not working together and how she planned to help me to eliminate the double vision and headaches. I was very excited and hopeful.

After surgery within days my headaches subsided, the double vision gradually decreased over six months and within a year I rarely had any. I followed the exercises they gave me along with always wearing either my glasses or contact lenses. I now have to be very tired to experience double vision and resting my eyes will eliminate it.

My life has been enriched immensely. Daily life is full with reading, knitting and sewing. I can now drive without closing one eye. I had two serious bicycle accidents prior to my surgery, I can now bike and hike again with the expansion of my field of vision and sense of depth.

I never realized my neck pain was a result of twisting my head trying to eliminate the double vision. My children no longer ask: ”Mom which eye should I talk to? Can you see me here? Here?”  Now we laugh I no longer have eyes in the back of my head!

My life was gradually narrowing as I aged and I thought nothing could be done. Now I do not have enough time in the day to get everything done.

Thank you Dr. Robbins and Shiley Eye Center!   ~ Stephanie

Thank you to the Shiley Eye Center!

Dr. Robbins has changed my grandson’s life… there are so many ways the operation she performed has made a difference for him. In addition she has changed all of our lives. I used to think that he was mentally challenged but now that his eyes are both working together, his reactions are totally appropriate and he relates to his world very well. The surgery she performed has set my mind at ease. It has also taken a huge burden from his parents’ shoulders. They knew they needed to do something sometime, but through her willingness to answer all our questions they finally realized that the surgery was needed and as soon as possible to insure the best possible outcome. Dr. Robbins’ calmness and confidence were very reassuring to all of us as we made each step through this unfamiliar process.

We can never really repay the gift that Dr. Robbins has given us but can only thank you with our continuing gratitude and goodwill. It makes me very happy to know that she truly “gets” the life-changing contribution that your doctors make in this world.

This place is different.

To the Ratner Eye Center team,

On 02/06/18 my son accompanied me to the Ratner Eye Center for my appointment.  At the Center we were welcomed by a receptionist who explained in detail the procedure for the examination.  After the cordial reception, I said to my son, “this place is different.”  He agreed and added, “They make you feel so welcome.”
Soon the receptionist escorted us to the room where Dr. Kim gave me the most thorough eye exam.  Dr. Kim reported his findings to Dr. Robbins who gave me her analysis and her plan of how we could work together to solve my visual problem.  She was very professional, but also very friendly.  She made me feel like I was one of her good friends.  She gave me hope that my vision would get better and that she was there to assist me in the process.
My son and I left the Center and again agreed that “The Ratner Eye Center was different.”  It was the Best!

Thank you for treating me so special!

Sincerely,
Charles T. White
