Three of Shiley Eye Center’s physicians were
honored in San Diego Magazine’s “Top Doctors”
list, published in October of 2005. The award is a prestigious honor
to San Diego physicians because out of the 8,000+ physicians in
San Diego County, only 344 made this year’s list. Making the
2005 list are: Michael H. Goldbaum, M.D., Professor and Co-Director,
Retina Division; Don O. Kikkawa, M.D., Professor and Director, Division
of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; and David J. Schanzlin,
M.D., Professor and Director, Keratorefractive Surgery. Information
for the “Top Doctors” list was collected collaboratively
by San Diego County Medical Society and San Diego Magazine. Recipients
of the award include the top five percent of local physicians in
their specialty. The list was compiled after an extensive poll of
local physicians. In the poll, area doctors were asked to vote on
the physicians who they would want to be treated by, if in need
of medical care. The list represents physicians who command the
confidence and respect of their San Diego peers.
