Dr. Vidyullatha Vasireddy received her Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India and completed her Postdoctoral traning at the Department of Ophthalmology, W.K. Kellogg Eye Center, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI.
Dr. Vasireddy's research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanism underlying retinal degenerations. Using a combination of molecular and cell biology tools, we study the function of disease causing genes. To further evaluate the in vivo effect of disease causing genes, we generate the characterize animal models with retinal degenerations. These animal models will be used to evaluate the function of retinal degeneration genes and develop new therapeutic strategies to treat retinal degenerations.
