Jeffrey E. Lee , M.D.

Associate Physician

Jeffrey E. Lee graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with undergraduate degrees in biology and economics, and earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).  He completed a transitional internship in Internal Medicine at the UCSD Medical Center, and then went on to receive his ophthalmology training, also at UCSD.

Dr. Lee maintains a broad and comprehensive practice in which he sees a diverse patient population.   He is highly skilled and proficient in a variety of surgical procedures, including cataract surgeries and pterygium removal.  Dr. Lee believes strongly in lifelong learning, and his chief academic interests include diabetic retinopathy, ocular manifestations of HIV, and orbital trauma.  By means of continual study, Dr. Lee hopes to keep informed of new and innovative approaches to eye care, and then to implement the soundest of those techniques in treating his patients.

As a student and resident, Dr. Lee spent a significant amount of time caring for elderly and indigent patients at both the San Diego VA Hospital and the UCSD Hillcrest Medical Center.  Impacted by this experience, Dr. Lee endeavors to combine his training with philanthropy, and is committed to programs that bring quality vision care to underserved patients.  Dr. Lee is also passionate about teaching and mentoring medical students and residents to help them reach their maximum potential.  In recognition of his exceptional commitment to education, UCSD’s Department of Ophthalmology awarded Dr. Lee with the Outstanding Teacher award for the year 2008-2009.  Dr. Lee also volunteers regularly at a summer youth camp as the program’s on-site physician.

Dr. Lee is fluent in Cantonese.
