"I Can See You Mommy!"

Recently, a concerned mother called our office. Her daughter had been seen on the EyeMobile for Children. The mother wondered what certain numbers on her daughter's prescription meant. One of our staff members explained them to her. She then told us that when she picked up her daughter up from school that day, the little 4-year-old girl walked toward her and she was wearing her new glasses . Her mom thought she looked very cute in her new glasses. As her daughter approached, she said, "I can see you Mommy!"

The mother was delighted that her daughter can see so clearly now. She told us that she had been wondering why, when the family would gather to watch television together, the little girl would move so close to the TV, then far away, then side to side. The mother had thought that her daughter was possibly hyperactive, but now understands that she was trying to find a way to see the television program.

The mother told us how bittersweet this experience was for her. On the one hand, she is happy that her daughter can see now. On the other hand, she wonders how long it had been that the little girl was not able to see her or her surroundings. She commented that she is very grateful for our Save Our Children's Sight program not knowing when and if her daughter's vision problem would have been discovered otherwise.
